Lead SEO & AI Search Strategist (GEO Lead)

About the Role

We are seeking a forward-thinking SEO expert ready to pioneer the next evolution of search. While organic growth on traditional search engines remains a core KPI, the search landscape is rapidly shifting toward AI-driven answer engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews).

We are looking for a Lead SEO & AI Search Strategist to spearhead our transition from traditional SEO to Generative Engine Optimization (GEO). Your mission is to ensure our brand moves beyond just “ranking” and becomes the primary answer and authoritative entity recommended by Large Language Models (LLMs).

Key Responsibilities

  1. Strategic Evolution: From SEO to GEO
  • Lead the strategic pivot from traditional keyword targeting to conversational search intent, optimizing for the complex prompts users now use to find solutions.

  • Reverse-engineer how LLMs interpret our industry’s specific topics and develop strategies to ensure our brand is the primary entity in their responses.

  • Design and execute experiments to understand “ranking” factors in generative experiences, staying ahead of algorithm changes in a rapidly evolving “Wild West” landscape.
  1. Content Architecture & Authority Building
  • Restructure our content ecosystem to maximize machine readability and compatibility with RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) systems.

  • Develop “high-trust” content frameworks that signal deep authority to AI models, ensuring our proprietary insights become the source of truth for AI answers.

  • Oversee the integration of semantic signals (citations, expert validation, data density) that encourage AI models to reference our assets.

  1. Entity Management & Ecosystem Signals
  • Take ownership of our Brand Entity presence. Ensure knowledge graphs and foundational data sources accurately reflect our market positioning.

  • Drive a strategy for “conversational layer” platforms and community ecosystems that feed into LLM training data, ensuring our brand narrative is consistent where AI models learn.

  1. Technical GEO & Infrastructure
  • Manage technical signals specific to AI crawlers, including advanced Schema/JSON-LD implementation to provide clear context to LLMs.

  • Oversee bot management protocols (e.g., llms.txt, robots.txt) to control how and where our proprietary data is ingested.
  1. Analytics & Measurement
  • Define and track new KPIs for the AI era, such as Share of Voice in AI, citation frequency, and referral traffic from LLM engines.

  • Monitor brand sentiment and visibility across major AI platforms to benchmark performance against competitors.

Candidate Profile

Experience & Skills

  • 3+ years of SEO experience (Content & Technical) with a proven track record of driving organic growth.
  • Deep understanding of E-E-A-T (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness) and how it applies to entity validation.
  • Familiarity with the mechanics of LLMs (Large Language Models), including concepts like RAG, Hallucinations, and Semantic Search.

The “Builder” Mindset

  • Experimenter: You don’t wait for a playbook; you write it. You are actively testing tools like Perplexity, ChatGPT, and Claude to understand how they retrieve information.
  • Strategic Thinker: You understand that “Black Hat” tricks are short-term risks. You are focused on building sustainable, long-term brand authority.

Data-Driven: You are comfortable working with ambiguity and finding ways to measure success in new, opaque channels.
